Budget Friendly Camping Checklist
Camping, what a wonderful adventure it can be. It’s that time of year again – time to hit the woods or the local campground. Here in Kentucky, camping is a rite of passage for most folks, with all the beautiful woodland to explore and the many state parks offering well-maintained campsites to call home for a weekend or longer. As in all things, I try to be as frugal as possible when I plan for our camping adventures. It’s possible to forego spending too much money and still have a good time while enjoying the little basics and a few luxuries around camp.
I’ve made a checklist of a few items you should consider when packing for an excursion into the great outdoors.
We shopped for our tent in the off season to score a better deal but if you’re a last minute shopper you can still find some great bargains on camping supplies.
We share a double sleeping bag; in the fall the extra body heat helps us stay warm. Again, off-season shopping is the key to a great deal and keeping an eye out for markdowns and clearance prices can rack up some really good savings.
These Hammocks are growing in popularity for those like me who prefer to be off the ground. The thick heavy foundation provides extra protection from the elements.
Everyone in your party should have their own flashlight. The size of this flashlight slips right into your pocket yet it can provide you with as brilliant a light as a larger flashlight.
Bringing your own food and save money.
Cooking it at camp is much cheaper than eating at local restaurants during your trip.
